Project 1.3 Walls: "Undulating Partitions", by Jane Chongsuwat

Continuing with the concept of the staircase, I wanted the wall not be just a partition between spaces, but for it also be multifunctional. The undulating partitions can serve as a social space, as the typologies of staircases had been used as social spaces for hundreds of years.

The handrails of the staircase are also defined as a wall, as they also create partitions. So I design the wall and the handrail to be one continuous transforming surface.

The undulating roof plane also serves also creates different modes of spaces. The floor plates transforms into a balcony in some areas.
